The menu is a thoughtful balance of traditional Chinese favorites and Polynesian-inspired creations. From the tangy sweetness of General TSO Chicken and the tender, melt-in-your-mouth Boneless Spareribs to fresh and crispy Crab Rangoon and classic Egg Rolls, every dish is crafted to evoke warmth and comfort. Vegetarians will find delight in dishes like General TSO’S Tofu and Vegetable Lo Mein, although some guests report the tofu could use a bit more seasoning. For those who appreciate a fusion twist, the menu’s Empanada and Chicken Fingers with Egg Foo Young add an exciting dimension to your dining adventure.
Stepping inside China Rainbow feels like stepping back into a memorable chapter of childhood dining, with an atmosphere that is welcoming, relaxed, and perfectly nostalgic. The warm lighting and engaging lounge area offer a cozy backdrop where you can savor not only the food but also their creative drink menu—rifled with fun, inventive options that enhance the overall experience. Regulars fondly mention the attentive and gracious service from Rick, whose hospitality adds a unique personal touch, making each visit feel special.
While some patrons have noted a few inconsistencies, such as a "bland" tofu or mid-tier chicken lo mein, the overwhelming sentiment celebrates China Rainbow as a timeless slice of local culture. The scallion pancakes, for example, come highly recommended for their fresh, crispy texture, and the stiff cocktails paired with great prices ensure value alongside quality.
It’s bittersweet to know that China Rainbow will be closing its doors soon, with December 21 marking the end of an era. This knowledge adds a layer of poignancy to each bite and every drink, a bittersweet farewell to a place that has been a staple for many long-time patrons. If you’re craving comfort food that carries nostalgia and heart, or simply want to enjoy a classic Chinese dining experience with friendly service and a lively atmosphere, China Rainbow is a must-visit stop before it closes its doors.

Unfortunately it’s empty. Classic old school Chinese menu with Polynesian options. Fun looking drinks menu, but didn’t try. Spareribs, Lo mein, and orange chicken were great. General’s tofu was bland. My son the meatitarian was better served than his vegetarian father. Would send him back with friends...
One of those places you go to and you’re so thankful they’re still around. Great food and service, perfectly old school atmosphere. It’s worth checking out and grabbing a drink and an appetizer!
Really good food....so good...but they are closing December 21....Wishing you the best.... Go before the 21st...
So good!!! Classic childhood chinese food. A must try. Sadly I hear they are closing on the 20th. So you must try them soon!!!
Chicken lo mein is mid, but the scallion pancakes are fresh and crispy, and Rick serves a stiff SB, but I love this place for more than its good and reasonably priced fare. There’s a certain curb appeal that comes from having no windows that more modern establishments are still struggling to grasp. Rick is the most gracious host/server/bartender, and I welcome any additional business in his direction even if it’s just to hear his genuine, “You’re welcome,” each and every time you politely thank him for something. It’s fun to go for some drinks with a few friends when it’s dead, and fun to go to celebrate your birthday when it’s popping. Give it a whirl!
From the moment you step inside, you're reminded of the old school American Chinese restaurant, where it's very casual, place for locals to gather and hang out, eat and drink Mai tais. There aren't many of these spots around, so very happy there is one locally and it hits the spot. The owner is very friendly and everyone there seems to know her and she knew their names. This is a no frill place, hole in the wall, no windows. We got an appetizer combo, chicken wings, beef Chow mein (not to be confused with lo mein or stir fried noodles) and sweet and Sour pork (this is not the typical current Chinese restaurant sweet and Sour pork in bright red sauce. This is chicken fingers battered pork with sauce drizzled over). Everything tasted good and brought back childhood memories.
